6th Annual Symposium for Life Science Innovation and Development

The Premier Organization for Life Science, Innovation, Design, and Real Estate Professionals

Launched in 2018, Builds Bio+ aims to connect all segments of the life science ecosystem in major regional clusters, through events, research, industry reports and educational programs.

Become a Member

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership-driven organization, Builds Bio+ is dedicated to bringing the life sciences innovation community together, serving as the go-to place to find information about and assistance with growing, building and locating life science companies in the major life science clusters it serves.

Membership Benefits
We Are Growing

Initially, Builds Bio+ focused on the growth and development of the life science cluster in New York City, but its work now encompasses the Greater NY Metro area (which includes New York City and surrounding counties of New York, Connecticut, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.) In 2022, Builds Bio+ held the first annual Symposium in Philadelphia.

New York Metro Life Sciences

In June, 2022, the NYC Department of City Planning and New York City Economic Development Corporation together with regional leaders, released a report showing that the NY Metro is leading the country on jobs and funding in the life sciences industry. The report compares the NY Metro region to other metro areas across the country, to understand the full scale and strength of the region’s life sciences ecosystem, demonstrating the region leads the nation in multiple metrics including jobs, talent, and NIH funding. The region is a life sciences powerhouse with more than a dozen connected innovation hubs stretching from New Haven to Princeton, and Long Island to the Lower Hudson Valley—all with New York City at its core.

Builds Bio+, NYCEDC and the Department of City Planning were amongst the first to promote this message through collaborative programming. The NY Metro Builds Bio+ 2021 Life Science Symposium showcased the Tri-State public and private investments driving the exponential growth. From January, 2022 to September 2022, Builds Bio+ took an in-depth look at these innovation hubs in a series of webinars. The series can be found here.

Philadelphia Life Sciences

In September, 2022, the Philly Builds Bio+ Inaugural Symposium brought the life science and real estate communities together around the key drivers of the life science industry in Philadelphia (its opportunity and potential) and the opportunities and challenges of life science development in the region. More than 300 people attended the meeting which featured prominent key note speakers and panel discussions, each moderated by a prominent scientist, business leader or Philly real estate developer.

A newly released study by the CEO Council for Growth in Philadelphia helped to confirm the broad life science and real estate trends that were highlighted at the Symposium, showing that the Philadelphia region ranks #2 amongst 14 U.S. cell and gene therapy hubs in five key categories, earning the nickname “Cellicon Valley.”

Many refer to the changes that we're experiencing right now as a fourth industrial revolution that is characterized by a fusion of technologies. It is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological realms.

Builds Bio+ is helping to build the new life science industries of the 21st century."
