London, UK

Sponsored and Hosted by
Macfarlanes

Overview

The Founding Members of the Builds Bio+ London/UK chapter were excited to host an exclusive round-table event at Macfarlanes LLP offices on Monday, July 14, 2025. The focus of the discussion was Real Estate Infrastructure for Cancer Innovation, with an in-depth overview of the forthcoming London Cancer Hub scheme at Sutton.

We were very grateful that the partners for the LCH project presented on the plans for this exciting scheme and their hopes and aspirations for the project – providing a service “from bench to bedside”.

The roundtable explored how real estate infrastructure and community partnership can enable thriving cancer innovation ecosystems, with a particular emphasis on:

  • Academic–commercial collaboration
  • Planning policy and frameworks
  • Spatial and campus design principles
  • Lessons from international case studies, particularly from the US

The closed-door session brought together key stakeholders and the Founding Members of the London/UK Chapter of Builds Bio+, including representatives from Socius, Gensler, The Institute of Cancer Research, Populate, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, UCL, AstraZeneca, and others from across academia and industry. A short research and reflection piece will be released by Builds Bio+, respecting the confidential nature of the discourse.
