This meeting will highlight Long Island City as a developing life science subcluster in the growing NYC life science cluster. With an increasing focus on the lack of available life science space in Manhattan and the release of the Long Island City Life Science Feasibility Study in March, 2018, developer interest in Long Island City as a destination for life sciences has been ignited. Several life science projects in LIC have been announced or are in the planning stage.
LIC is an attractive environment for life science development due to its proximity to Grand Central and other transportation links, available building stock which is conducive to life science conversion, favorable zoning for life sciences, lower rental rates, proximity to both Manhattan’s East Side medical research corridor and the Cornell Tech innovation campus on Roosevelt Island, and a rich “live, work, play” environment fostered by the growing number of tech, commercial and residential projects.
The September NYC Builds Bio+ Quarterly Event will highlight Long Island City as a life science destination. After a brief program, a bus tour of LIC will showcase some key projects in Long Island City being led by King Street Properties, Alexandria Real Estate Equities, Tishman Speyer, Silvercup Properties and RXR Realty, amongst others. The tour will also highlight Center Boulevard, the Ferry Landing, and some residential properties in order to demonstrate the “live, work, play” environment in LIC.
Space is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
