The Premier Organization at the Intersection of Life Sciences and Real Estate


Launched in 2018, NY Metro Builds Bio+ hosts a series of meetings and generates research, reports and educational initiatives serving as the catalyst for more targeted initiatives that the greater New York Metro life science real estate community is looking to pursue.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit membership-driven organization, NY Metro Builds Bio+ is dedicated to bringing the life sciences innovation community together, serving as the go-to place to find information about and assistance with growing, building and locating life science companies in the New York Metropolitan area.

Builds Bio+ Leadership Committees are locally-focused, multidisciplinary groups of professionals involved in real estate development (developers, building owners, brokers, lawyers and financial institutions, architects, construction and engineering firms, permitting firms, consultants), as well as key players in the life science industry (individual investors, venture capitalists, CEOs, pharma, entrepreneurs, executives, potential tenants), community leaders and policy makers at the State and local level.

The NY Metro Builds Bio+ "Institutions" Committee is a dedicated group focused on fostering collaboration and innovation between academic and healthcare institutions in the New York Metro area. With a keen focus on bridging the gap between institutions, life science companies, and the real estate community, this committee plays a crucial role in supporting the growth of the biotechnology sector. By facilitating partnerships, sharing resources, and providing strategic guidance, the committee aims to create a thriving ecosystem that promotes scientific advancements, attracts investment, and enhances the overall impact of the bio+ industry in the region.

NY Metro Life Science Subclusters

Developers, building owners, and institutions are responding to the strong life science market trends and forecast, expanding the Greater New York Metro life science footprint to meet the increasing demand for life science space in the Greater NY Metro area. These activities are taking place in a number of life science “subclusters” that are emerging throughout the city and surrounding environs: Long Island City, East Side Midtown, Manhattanville, West Side Midtown and Hudson Square, Brooklyn, Long Island, Jersey City, Westchester County, Southern CT and Philadelphia PA.

The Life Science Real Estate Subcluster Committees will track the life science activities and real estate development projects in these subclusters, to create a database of information for the life science and real estate communities.

Planning & Membership

NY Metro Builds Bio+ (NYMBB+) aspires to educate an integrated base of real estate and life science professionals, increase the visibility of commercial life science opportunities, and grow life science real estate development in the Greater New York Metro Area and beyond.

Our members are a critical resource in helping to achieve these goals. This Committee will work to support members and expand membership while identifying topics and services important to members. NYMBB+ connects commercial life science opportunities to the Greater New York Metro’s real estate development community through events, research, reports and educational programs.

The Planning and Membership Committee will also help to organize and implement these activities as well as identify issues of importance and concern for the community.

Life Sciences

In 2023, the NY Metro Builds Bio+ Life Sciences Committee has embraced a new vision aimed at bridging the gap between the field of life sciences and the wider communities it serves. Central to this mission is providing tours and educational opportunities to high school, college, and graduate students interested in the life sciences. Recognizing the significance of outreach, the committee understands that these students are not only potential future entrepreneurs but also prospective tenants of the laboratories. By engaging and inspiring young minds, the committee aims to cultivate a pipeline of talent, innovation, and collaboration, ensuring a vibrant and sustainable future for the life sciences sector in New York City.
